Bay of Islands Redevelopment
The humble beginnings of the Bay of Islands Hospital began in 1911 with the formation of The Bay of Islands Hospital and Charitable Aid Board and a seeding fund of £150.
The driver for the project is to deliver a patient-centred and integrated model of care that sees collaboration across providers on after-hours primary health care, improved utilisation of clinical spaces and access to service delivery in a community setting.
The Northland DHB are constructing a 2-storey building that will include new facilities for an Accident & Medical department, Radiology, after-hours GP and Medical Ward.
Work is continuing at the Bay of Islands Hospital with the demolition enabling works due to be completed by 5 March (previously 28 February).
